I've been run down
I've been lied to
And I don't know why ... I let that mean woman make me a fool
She took all my money ... wrecked my new car
Now she's with one of my good time buddies ... they're drinkin' in some cross town bar
Sometimes I feel
Sometimes I feel ... like I've been tied to the whippin' post
Tied to the whippin' post
Tied to the whippin' post
Good Lord I feel like I'm dyin'

My friends tell me ... that I've been such a fool
And I have to stand by and take it baby ... all for lovin' you
I drown myself in sorrow ... as I look at what you've done
But nothin' seems to change ... the bad times stay the same ... and I can't run
Sometimes I feel
Sometimes I feel ... like I've been tied to the whippin’ post
Tied to the whippin’ post
Tied to the whippin’ post
Good Lord I feel like I'm dyin'

Sometimes I feel
Sometimes I feel ... like I've been tied to the whippin’ post
Tied to the whippin’ post
Tied to the whippin' post
Good Lord I feel like I'm dyin'

Looks like it's working now, as I'm sure you know.

I wonder how the poster got this video—Wikipedia says the "Live at the Fillmore East" album was recorded in March 1971, but the YouTube post says this is from a show in September 1970.

It's two different concerts--here's another video of the entire set, with this note:

Recorded six months prior to the legendary Live At Fillmore East double album set, this performance captures the Allman Brothers when they were a relatively new band...

Good one, proglib! Remember exaxtly where I was when this album came out and I first heard this song. And that in itself is sometimes amazing, even to me. A great band and the death of Duane Allman was a real loss to the world of music. The only thing is that before he died he played with Eric Clapton and collaborated on the "Layla" album. And I am a huge Clapton fan(5 best concerts I've ever been to).

Thanks for the song, the memories, and a great start to a cold, snowy weekend here in northern Washington State. You're a winner.

Thanks, don. One of the best concerts I ever attended was Cream at the Whisky a go-go.

I was at the concert tour for the Layla Album in 1972, dropped a little orange sunshine, Santana opened with his tour of the Abraxas Album. By far this was the best, bar none, concert I have ever attended, and will never forget it.

Sounds like you and I were and are on the same musical wavelength.Concerts were fun back then. Can't say they are as much fun, or the quality of the music and the intensity of the musicians and their feel for their music has stayed the same.

Seems to be quite alot of us 60 somethings around here. Some of the memories are bad, most were memorable, and thank God the old saying,"never trust anyone over 30", was only doable until we turned 30.

One only has to remember, Cheney and Rove were interns for Erlichman,Haldeman, and Colson. And these pieces of work were the evil spawn of Tricky Dick and his brand of GOP dog@!$%#.

a bit of history on Mitch McConnell too: Wikipedia: In 1967, to gain experience on Capitol Hill, during his final semester of law school, McConnell was an intern for Senator John Sherman Cooper (R-KY). Later, he was an assistant to Senator Marlow Cook (R-KY) "Cook's chief legislative aide from 1968 to 1970" and was a Deputy Assistant Attorney General under President Gerald R. Ford

McConnell was released early from his active-duty military service in August 1967.[5] McConnell received a medical discharge for optic neuritis, which is a common manifestation of multiple sclerosis.[6]

Now Im jealous, I had tickets to see them in Houston but Duane got killed and they canceled. I did see Jethro Tull back in the day, they were pretty awesome. I love Clapton, but the only time I saw him he must have been having a bad night, Muddy Waters was with him. I dont know if you guys have listened to any Derek Trucks, but he is looking a lot like the heir apparent of Duane.

I know of Derek Trucks. Second time I saw Clapton, Muddy Waters was the opening act. I was in the second row, center stage, and never sat down the whole concert. Best part was the 45 minute encore with Muddy and Eric, non stop blues all the way. As long as Clapton is alive there will be no one who can play the blues better for me.

Last time he came to Seattle was of course the night before I got home from Alaska. Same thing happened with the Rolling Stones and twice with AC/DC. My loss all the way.

Best Clapton concert was with Elton John at Dodger Stadium!

Allman Brothers Band has always been one of my favorites. I'm really in to blues music and they perform lots of it. Really enjoy them.

My favorite, though, is "Jessica."

Whipping Post one of my all-time favorites ( like maybe #1 cranked) LOL , That pause just before the end, will go down as a 'Rock Classic' moment. It doesn't get any better that.

I just love those Blues- and no matter what I do I never can get away from them. It's like I'm rooted in them. You got to love when,Clapton, Hendrix, Richards all took lessons from B.B. King!

My favorite line from B.B. King- Those Boys really want to play the Blues real BAD, and they do! : )

Great seed!

Saw B.B. in concert once too. He came out with Lucille, sat down on his stool, and played nonstop for an hour and a half. Had every tune in my head for days.

I never leave home without "Riding with the King". Clapton and King finally getting it together.

I'm a big Clapton fan myself from his early days with Cream and D&D's...Not many can play down on that neck the way he does. Someone shared this guy Joe B. and he can play the blues, my favorite Blues guy now! Joe Bonamassa live at Albert Hall. Check out his story if you don't know it. One of the best. IMO

His dad gave him a CD of of Clapton playing Albert Hall when he was about five years old. At seven he told his Dad I'm playing Albert Hall just like Clapton. So here he is, the kid never stopped. Great story!

Steve- The list can go on and on. Some great guitar players out there. I didn't mean to derail this seed though. I love this song and it is one of my all-time favorites. Allman Brothers had some great moments.

I don't mind derails on music seeds, as long as the topic remains music. After 24 hours, it seems more like a jam session.;-)

And it usually happens for the best, I dont think music lovers mind a little derail, after all, we could go on talking music for days. Ive seen and heard a log of good guitar players, but I dont think Ive ever heard anyone play with the heart and innovation of Duane Allman.

And I say it everytime I play a Clapton tune. Never leave home without at least three Claptons, 2 BB King, 2 Janis Joplins, 2 Jerry Lee Lewis, 2 Hank Williams Jr/Sr, and 2 Doors just for the basic trip. Pick a few impulse CDs' as I go out the door. Eclectic to say the least.
