If there’s one thing that has always confounded me (besides ultra-light cigarettes), it’s how Republicans can be so vigorously pro-gun when they’re constantly shooting themselves in the foot. Take the 2012 presidential election, for example. They learned the hard way that 21st century America isn’t just full of millionaires named Benson Jeeves IV and Southern rednecks named Cleetus when they were handily defeated by women, minorities, gays, and middle-class Americans. Logic would dictate that if they wished to remain a party and not just a very wealthy subsidiary of the Ku Klux Klan, they would figure out how to alter their message to appeal to a larger swath of Americans. Nah–that takes a whole lot of time, thoughtfulness, and annoying photo-ops. Why not just rig the whole damn thing and thus cancel out any chance of those above-mentioned groups from even voting. Well, that’s pretty much the scenario that the RNC chairman is calling for.
Perhaps you recall when Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett (R) essentially called for rigging the presidential election for Mitt Romney by issuing electoral votes based upon which candidate carried each individual congressional district, as opposed to which candidate won the entire state. Well, RNC Chairman, Reince Priebus, appears to have devised an even more diabolical scheme. During an interview with the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Priebus expressively called for rigging this type of electoral fraud for reliably Democratic states.
